Arabian Mountains: View from Jebel Soodah
Oil on canvas. 150cm x 220cm POA
In 1980, as a young artist, I accompanied a team of archaelogists on a three month survey of the S.W.Region of Saudi Arabia. I recorded the trip in sketchbooks. Since then I have, periodically, used some of the sketches as inspiration for paintings such as the one above. Jebel Soodah, in the Asir Mountains , is thought to be the highest point in Saudi Arabia. The views to the distant peaks are spectacular.
