SILHOUETTED HOUSES AT DAWN (RIYADH) Oil on canvas 142cm x 183cm POA
At times, as a young artist in the 1980s, I would go for walks early in the morning in Riyadh when the streets would be silent and still. Whole areas would be newly developed and built, encroaching onto the adjoining desert. It would be very easy to find oneself heading off into the desert. Looking at the painting some people might assume that the circular object on the roof is a satellite dish; in fact it is a water tank.
